So... we bought a coffee truck at auction.
Bold move, right? Well... turns out it needs a little more work than we bargained for (who knew a 2008 step van could have this many surprises?). But we're diving in headfirst, covered in grease, duct tape, hope, and just enough delusion to believe we’ll have this baby rolling by the end of the year.
Our dream? To turn this truck into a traveling beacon of queer joy, second chances, damn good coffee, and vibrant plants from Pacific Crest Greenhouses. Think: festivals, ski parks, community events—all powered by caffeine, compassion, and a touch of glitter.
If you've got tools, talent, or just want to come hang while we pretend to know what we’re doing with a wrench in one hand and a cold brew in the other—slide into our DMs.
Let’s build something beautiful, weird, and wildly caffeinated together.
The Bread Truck Turned Coffee Truck and Herstory...
-
The Past
Before it was Break Free Coffee’s mobile joy machine, our truck had a very different life…
She was an OroWheat Bread Truck in the Bay Area. Yep—before coffee, she was all about carbs. This beauty spent her days delivering loaves of whole grain goodness to grocery stores far and wide, rolling through foggy San Francisco mornings with the scent of sourdough in her seams.
We like to think she served up "splenty" of slices—so many, in fact, that the poor girl needed a career change. (Too many buns, not enough fun.)
Now she’s traded in her crumb-covered cargo for cold brew, lemonade, and locally grown plants. From bread to brews, she’s found her true calling: spreading queer joy, second chances, and caffeine at every market, festival, and event we can roll into.
Once a carb queen, always a carb queen—she just delivers joy in liquid form now.
-
The Present
These days, our beloved coffee truck—formerly a hardworking OroWheat Bread queen—is facing a new challenge: she can’t quite pass her smog check.
She’s trying her best, bless her carb-loving heart, but every time we think she’s ready to roll, she lets out a little cough and says, “Not today, babes.”
We’re raising funds to give her the tune-up she deserves—new lungs, a fresh interior, and a glow-up that’ll turn her into the rolling, queer-powered, second-chance café of our dreams.
Once she’s road-ready, we’ll be slinging coffee, lemonade, and joy at festivals, markets, and community events all over NorCal—spreading hydration, plant magic, and a mission that supports inclusive employment, restorative justice, and queer celebration.
If you believe in second chances, caffeine-fueled connection, and the magic of community-driven businesses, donations of any size mean the world to us—and to our sputtering but spirited truck.
Let’s get this old carb queen back on the road.

The Future
The future is bright—and smells like fresh coffee.
Our Bread Queen has big dreams. Once she gets her smog-slaying glow-up, she’s not just rolling—she’s reigning. Inspired by the legendary Philz Coffee truck that once graced the Marina in San Francisco, we knew that our truck could be more than just a vehicle—it could be a vibe, a movement, a mobile joy machine brewing community, one cup at a time.
She may have started as a humble loaf-hauler, but her destiny is to bring locally roasted coffee, colorful plants, and radical inclusion to festivals, farmers markets, ski slopes, and street corners all over NorCal.
We wouldn’t be chasing this dream without our amazing friends at Humboldt Coffee Roasters, who believed in our vision and continue to roast the soul into every batch of beans we serve.
So here’s to the future:
More coffee. More community. More joy.
And one very fabulous Bread Queen leading the way. ☕🌈🚛🌱
